Specifications

Every figure with its condition.

The technical page of Loki. How a cell works, what each product is made of, what arrives with Loki 2, and what the law expects from the employer. What is not measured is not here.

FIG. 01A cell, in plan

Four or more anchors on the walls make a cell. The tag transmits a short signal; the anchors timestamp it and the engine on your server computes the position. Observed accuracy about 10 cm in a 25 m² cell with four anchors, line of sight. Larger cells are being characterised.

FIG. 02Data path

From the tag to your systems. The engine and Loki Manager run on your server, in Docker, also on an isolated network; positions reach your systems through the API.

Accuracy indoors≈ 10 cmMeasured: 25 m² cell, four anchors, line of sight. Larger cells being characterised.
Position updates5 per secondTag in motion; one every 2 s at rest.
MethodTime difference of arrivalAnchors timestamp the tag’s signal; 2D solve with an extended Kalman filter. Loki 2: two-way ranging in time slots, in development.
Anchors per cell4 or moreOne sync master per cell; cells join by radio; handover between cells in test.
Cables between anchors0Each anchor needs power and Ethernet, or a Bluetooth gateway in range.
CalibrationAutomaticBy ranging between the anchors of a cell.
ServerYour server, DockerEngine and Loki Manager; Docker Compose on Ubuntu Server; offline install kit; isolated networks supported; no cloud, no licence fee.
IntegrationsREST, WebSocket, SSE, webhooks

What arrives with Loki 2.

The generation now in development: prototypes targeted for the end of 2026. Everything here carries its status; times in brackets are targets, to be measured at the pilot.

TAB. 04Alarms
EventWhat happens
SOSPress and hold: the control room sees who and where in [3] seconds, and the tag confirms with a vibration.
FallA fall is detected on the tag and sent with the position; the wearer can cancel within [10] seconds.
No movementAfter [60] seconds without movement the tag asks the wearer; after [30] more, the alarm goes out with the position.
Restricted areaEntering a restricted zone notifies the wearer and the control room; the zone and the time are logged.
MusteringAt the alarm, Loki counts who is at the assembly point and lists who is not, with their last position.

Alarms depend on tag wear, coverage and network availability. They support the emergency plan; they do not replace it, and they do not eliminate operational risk.

  1. Loki Tag 2

    In development

Rechargeable wearable: SOS button, fall and no-movement detection, vibration and voice back, GNSS and an 868 MHz radio for the outdoors.

  2. Node 2

    In development

Infrastructure node with PoE and angle of arrival, for Loki X and Loki One.

  3. Two-way ranging in time slots

    In development

Each tag ranges against every anchor in its own slot, which also carries messages back to the tag. Replaces time difference of arrival.

  4. The outdoor layer

    In development

Outdoor positions from the tag’s GNSS; alarms and status over the 868 MHz link through Loki Eagle, the base station under study.

TAB. 05Obligations

Under D.Lgs. 81/2008 the obligations sit with the employer. Loki supports the risk assessment with data, feeds the emergency plan with a time-stamped log, and gives the safety manager who and where at the moment it matters. It does not make a plant compliant and it does not guarantee safety.

D.Lgs. 81/2008Lone-worker and emergency measures: with Loki 2, alarms with position, mustering count, log for the DVR.
ISO 45001Emergency preparedness and response: with Loki 2, a tested alarm path with a measured time to alarm.
ATEXThe pilot runs in non-hazardous areas. Certification for zone 1 is planned; we publish the marking when we have it, not before.
INAIL ISISafety investments of this kind are eligible for the INAIL ISI grant; we provide the documentation.
